When I Don’t Like My Boyfriend

When your boyfriend is a jerk there isn’t much you can do except leave and make yourself feel better. There’s a saying that goes, you should say sorry because you cherish the relationship more than your ego, or at least something like that. What blasphemy. Some things I will not let go just because it’s a matter of principles.

So, today I spent some time arguing with my boyfriend. I don’t mean to use my blog as a means of release, but I just can’t hold in my anger and frustration.

Are there any others out there who is dating or has dated a European and find it difficult to resolve conflict? Why is it that they always have to win even when they’re wrong? Are Asians more needy and expect too much? I ask myself these questions (and many more) in hopes of figuring out the causes and solutions to my problems.

A healthy relationship should and does involve disagreement, but this just doesn’t seem normal. Is asking for respect too much? Since when was it ok to piss off your girlfriend because you were insensitive then run off out and get shitfaced with buddies and sleazy chicks ok?

Sorry to rant, but I’m just majorly disappointed, annoyed, and truthfully, hurt. For any men reading this, don’t you even dare ask if it’s that time of month.

  1. Christa says:

I don’t know you. I don’t know your situation, or what the argument was about. However, the mature way to handle conflict is to communicate. Either one of you running off is counter productive. đŸ™‚

It is always easy to say and you might have all the answers for everything when it is not your problems that you need to deal with. Communication is always two sided. When it is not time to communicate, it is better to walk away or put it aside a bit and deal with that later. The key is not to get things worse. Dont insist to sort everything out right away to decide who is right and who is wrong. As long as there is love between you two, it can cover up everything and you won’t insist to win an argument even you are 100% right.

      • Christa says:

Drama is unnecessary, I wasn’t judging as my first two sentences state.. Yes, it is easy to say the obvious – communication is key. Yes, it is necessary to communicate when both parties are willing to do so, and are calmed down. I didn’t insist on anything. đŸ˜‰ I disagree that just because you love someone, you’ll allow them to get away with things when you’re 100% right. If there is disrespect, it should not be let go on a whim because of love. However, if he has to leave the situation to go drink with buddies and hang with sleazy women – as she suggested – I find it to be immature. đŸ™‚

      • Thank you for the advice. It’s always nice to know there’s someone who is listening! I’m feeling better! Thanks guys!
